We are not alone

Being a science buff that grew up reading Sagan, Asimov and Hawking and subscribed to Discover, Popular Science and National Geographic (oh I also watched 'em documentaries on PTV 4 that they show during siesta time), I strongly believe that we are not the only sentient beings in this universe.

I encourage readers of my blog to join the SETI@home project. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu

SETI stands for "Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence." The project uses the power of Internet-connected computers to process data from the radio telescope in Arecibo, Puerto Rico (that big dish in James Bond Golden Eye). This radio telescope has been "listening" for signs of intelligent life for past couple of years. Joining the project only requires a computer and an internet connection.

So why search for life out there? Simply put, because human curiosity demands it... and it's cool!
